Fence

A fence under 7 feet tall is on the Town's list of exceptions to the building permit requirement (Building Inspections FAQ). The same FAQ states that where a building permit is not required, Site Plan approval is still required by PLAN per Zoning Code § 156.50, and review by Engineering and Development Services for drainage and tree protection where applicable. Separately, the Engineering & Environmental Division states that if a property has a public drainage easement to the Town and the owner wants to alter it in any way — including to install a fence — "an encroachment permit must be submitted for review." The Town publishes no separate fence-permit fee.
