When camp registration actually opens

Youth sports and camp registration in Mount Pleasant is not rolling. The Town of Mount Pleasant Recreation Department opens a two-week window at 8:00 a.m. on four Mondays a year, and Charleston County Parks opens every summer camp at once on February 1 at 7:00 p.m. Miss a window and you generally wait a season.

The five things that cost families a season

  1. 01

New families must register in person first — do it before a window opens

A child who has never been in the system cannot be registered online. Someone has to appear in person at the R.L. Jones Center, the G.M. Darby Building or Park West with proof of address and a birth certificate or passport for each child. Doing that during a two-week window is how people miss the window.

  2. 02

Patriots Point camps are booked through the town, not the museum

Camp Summer Scientist and Flight Academy take registrations through mtpleasantrec.com and ride the town's February window. Parents watching only the museum's website miss them every year.

  3. 03

April 1 is the refund cliff for town summer camps

Cancel before April 1 and you get everything back except the $50 non-refundable deposit. After April 1, a request must come at least five business days before camp starts and refunds only half. Decide by April 1.

  4. 04

Lacrosse registers about six months early

Early registration for SPRING lacrosse opens in mid-September — roughly half a year before the season. It is the easiest one on the calendar to miss.

  5. 05

The spring window opens during Christmas week

Spring athletics opens the Monday after Christmas, at 8:00 a.m. It catches families off guard every single year.

Compiled September 3, 2026 from the Town of Mount Pleasant Recreation Department and Charleston County Parks. The recurring pattern — four Recreation Mondays and the February 1 county opening — is more dependable than any single future date, so confirm the exact day with mtpleasantrec.com and ccprc.com before you count on it.
