Par 72. Five tee sets: Champion 7,188 / Medal 6,679 / Member 6,267 / Club 5,786 / Forward 5,089 yards. Thirteen holes play along the Wando River and Horlbeck Creek. Participates in Snee Farm's Dual and Triple Club membership programs.
1 Patriots Point Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. PUBLIC, with online tee-time booking. Designed by Willard C. Byrd. Par 72, four tee sets from roughly 5,100 to 7,000 yards. Sits on the edge of Charleston Harbor at the foot of the Ravenel Bridge with views of the Charleston skyline, Fort Sumter and inbound container ships; the par-3 17th plays to an island green and is the course's signature hole. Managed by Bobby Jones Links. The course gives 1979 as its opening year.
1360 National Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466. Phone 843-884-4653. SEMI-PRIVATE — open to public play year-round, memberships also offered. Designed by Rees Jones with Greg Muirhead; par 72, just over 7,100 yards from the tips, five tee sets. Routed along the Intracoastal Waterway through wetlands and lagoons with wooden bridges and marsh-front finishing holes. The club describes it as the only Rees Jones design in the Charleston area open to the public. Rental cart included in green fee; soft spikes only. Green fees are seasonal; check the club's rates before you book.
3535 Wando Plantation Way, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466. Phone 843-856-9000. SEMI-PRIVATE — public tee times available alongside membership. Designed by Arthur Hills, opened 1991. Par 72; about 6,800 yards from the longest tees down to about 5,000 forward. Five tee sets. Water in play on seven holes; live oaks and marsh along Wagner Creek. Clubhouse with dining, athletic and swim club, racquet club, boating/storage. Membership structure: Resident memberships are limited to property owners in Dunes West (including Palmetto Hall, Cypress Point, Ellington Woods and The Heritage); separate Charleston-area memberships are for residents of Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley counties who live outside Dunes West. Ask the club directly whether any membership category comes with a Dunes West home.
995 Bulls Bay Blvd, Awendaw, SC 29429 — roughly 20 minutes north of Mount Pleasant, and listed on the Town of Mount Pleasant's own tourism golf page. PRIVATE. Designed by Mike Strantz, opened 2002. Par 72, 7,282 yards. Built on a man-made ridge over tidal salt marsh with windswept savannah and live oaks, styled after Scottish and Irish links. Nearby and private, not a public Mount Pleasant option.
Before you buy for the golf
- Snee Farm: the neighborhood association says on its own site that club membership is not included in the annual assessment. The country club is a separate private business, so buying a home there conveys no golf, tennis, pool or clubhouse access.
- Dunes West: the club limits its resident memberships to Dunes West property owners and sells separate memberships to people who live elsewhere in Charleston, Dorchester or Berkeley counties. Whether any category comes with a home is a question for the club, so ask it before you count on one.
- Shared memberships: Snee Farm Country Club lists a Dual membership with RiverTowne and a Triple membership with RiverTowne and Dunes West. None of the clubs publish their fees online.
