Two of the seven neighborhoods on this index are built around a golf course: Snee Farm around Snee Farm Country Club, and Dunes West around its own club just up Highway 17 from Brickyard. Worth knowing before you assume a course comes with the house — at Snee Farm it explicitly does not.
The courses
VERIFIED FROM THE HOA'S OWN SITE. The Snee Farm Community Foundation (the neighborhood association) states of the country club: "While not included in the annual assessment, many residents enjoy membership at the club." The club is a separate private business from the HOA; buying a home in Snee Farm conveys no golf, tennis, pool or clubhouse access, and club dues are billed separately from the HOA assessment. Membership is voluntary — unlike some golf communities where a social membership or higher is mandatory. Designed by Rees Jones with Greg Muirhead; par 72, just over 7,100 yards from the tips, five tee sets. Routed along the Intracoastal Waterway through wetlands and lagoons with wooden bridges and marsh-front finishing holes. Described as the only Rees Jones design in the Charleston area open to the public. Rental cart included in green fee; soft spikes only. FLAG: opening year is given as 1987 by golf databases and 1989 by the Rees Jones firm's own site — treat as unresolved or omit. Do NOT publish green fees as fixed; posted ranges (weekday $39-$90, weekend $47-$100) are seasonal and change.

The Town of Mount Pleasant's official tourism site lists exactly six courses under Golf: Charleston National, Bulls Bay (Awendaw), Dunes West, Patriots Point Links, Snee Farm Country Club and RiverTowne Country Club.
