The working creek, and the densest stretch of waterfront tables in Mount Pleasant. Boats unload where you are sitting; expect a wait at sunset and dolphins in the channel if you are lucky.
106 Haddrell Street. Lowcountry seafood in a former shrimp-packing shed on the creek — fried and boiled local seafood, no-frills screened porch. Widely described as cash-only with no reservations; VERIFY the cash-only policy directly before publishing it, as payment policies change. The single most 'resident-named' Shem Creek institution.
98 Church Street. Casual dockside seafood and beer with a rooftop deck over the creek — peel-and-eat shrimp, fish sandwiches, fried baskets. One of Shem Creek's oldest go-to spots and the default sunset-beer answer.

130 Mill Street. Southern/coastal — barbecue, fish tacos, big portions — sited at the mouth of Shem Creek for the most open water view on the creek. 2026 UPDATE: closed January 5-12, 2026 for a renovation of the kitchen, dining room and bar (new furniture, colors and decor) and reopened January 13, 2026. A walk-up window called The Wagon at the Mill Street entrance handles to-go orders.
1407 Shrimp Boat Lane. Longstanding creekside seafood house — oysters, crab cakes, grilled local fish — with The Cabana Bar as its outdoor counterpart at the same address.
1313 Shrimp Boat Lane. Cuban-inflected Southern menu and a well-known brunch, with wide creek and harbor views. Operating on Shem Creek since 1999.
508 Mill Street. IMPORTANT CORRECTION FOR ANY GUIDE: this is the former Shem Creek Bar & Grill, which opened in 1984 and sold for $4.9 million on Sept. 30, 2020 to restaurateur John Keener, who reopened it as Shem Creek Crab House. Yelp and similar sites still carry a 'Shem Creek Bar and Grill - CLOSED' listing at this address — that reflects the rename, not a shuttered business. Confirm the Crab House's current 2026 operating status before publishing.
97 Ronnie Boals Blvd. Opened 2023 on the site of R.B.'s, the longtime seafood restaurant that closed in 2020. Nearly 400 seats over two stories: a downstairs Lowcountry-leaning seafood kitchen and an upstairs sushi program (rolls, nigiri, sashimi). From a partnership between Bottle Cap Group (Snapper Jack's on Folly Beach) and Southern Entertainment. The street name honors Ronnie Boals, a Lowcountry restaurateur tied to the creek's fishing-village era.
504 Mill Street. Casual Shem Creek tavern; listed locally as a breakfast/American spot. Lower-profile than its neighbors — include only if the guide wants full Shem Creek coverage.
The oldest part of town, walkable from Pitt Street, and deliberately small. This is where Mount Pleasant eats when it is not showing off.
101 Pitt Street, in the heart of Old Village. Restaurant and seven-room inn in an 1896 building that has been the neighborhood's hub for over a century. The prior tenant, Old Village Post House, closed in February 2019 after 16 years; Kate and Ben Towill of Basic Projects gut-renovated the space and reopened it as Post House in 2020 — bar facing Pitt Street, dining room moved to the rear, outdoor courtyard, antiques and archival wallpaper. Coastal tavern menu; dinner plus weekend brunch. VERIFY current chef and hours before publishing — the chef named in 2020 coverage should not be published as current.

Butcher shop and restaurant with house-made sausages using heritage-breed pork and ethically raised chicken and beef, plus burgers, salads and shareables. A roughly 4,000-square-foot outdoor beer garden with local craft taps and live music Thursday through Sunday.

216 Scott Street, in the courtyard of Vintage Coffee Cafe and next to Coastal Crust. OPENED JANUARY 2026. Italian sandwich shop and mercantile: nine made-to-order sandwiches on focaccia baked fresh daily, following Italian traditions. Owner Brian Piesner (also Coastal Crust and Vintage Coffee Cafe) named it for his mother's family, the Giannones, who emigrated from Italy. A retail wine shop under the Giannone name was planned for a neighboring building on the property — confirm whether it has opened.
976 Houston Northcutt Blvd, Suite J, in Northcutt Plaza. OPENED EARLY JANUARY 2026 (Jan. 5). Second location of Chef Anthony Marini's downtown Charleston Italian sandwich shop — a roughly 1,100-square-foot counter-service space with the original's menu plus Mount Pleasant-only additions: wines by the glass and bottle and a curated beer list. Announced for 2700 N Highway 17, Suite 100, at the entrance to Brickyard in upper Mount Pleasant, from Millers All Day Hospitality — founder Nathan Thurston with co-owner Greg Johnsman of Marsh Hen Mill. Brooklyn-style thin, light-crust, large-format pies; a New York WaterMaker system to replicate NYC water and a PizzaMaster deck oven; Marsh Hen Mill Southern grains including Jimmy Red corn and benne, which the name references. As of January 2026 reporting it was scheduled to debut in summer 2026. I FOUND NO SOURCE CONFIRMING IT HAS OPENED — publish as 'announced' or 'expected,' never as open, without checking first.
Announced for 1434 Ira Road, a two-acre site just off Highway 17, as the first concept from hospitality group High Tide Provisions with culinary partner Chef Jonathan Rohland. Planned: indoor dining room and bar, an outdoor lawn with a live-music stage and walk-up bar window, and a standalone ice cream shack; menu items reported included short rib poutine, pot pie, moules-frites and pizzas, with lunch and dinner daily plus weekend brunch.
