Dog Park at Palmetto Islands County Park

Charleston County Parks (CCPRC) off-leash dog park inside a 943-acre park; the Town of Mount Pleasant links to it from its Leash Up MTP page but does not operate it. FENCED with SEPARATE AREAS FOR LARGE AND SMALL DOGS. SURFACE: grass and natural, unimproved terrain (CCPRC accessibility statement). ACCESS: accessible parking and an accessible dog park entrance. ADMISSION IS CHARGED: $2 per person at the park gate; free for Gold Pass members and children 2 and under; $1.50 per person educational-group rate Mon-Fri (843-795-4386). HOURS: January-April 8 a.m.-sunset; May-August 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; September-December 8 a.m.-sunset; the gate closes to incoming traffic 30 minutes before the park closes. MAINTENANCE CLOSURE: the dog park is closed until 9 a.m. every Tuesday. VACCINATION: CCPRC Agency Rules Section 8 requires dogs in off-leash areas to be attended by the owner and to have current required vaccinations; elsewhere in the park pets must be on a leash no more than six feet long, and owners must dispose of animal excrement. No dog-park licence or registration is required. Restrooms and water fountains exist elsewhere in the park (accessible restrooms at the meadow); CCPRC does not publish restrooms, shade structures or a dog water fountain inside this dog park.
