Dog Park at James Island County Park

Charleston County Parks off-leash dog park, about 15 miles from Mount Pleasant. SEPARATE AREAS FOR LARGE AND SMALL DOGS. SURFACE: grass, natural, unimproved; the route in runs from a gravel parking lot to a grassy meadow inside the dog park. RESTROOMS AND WATER: CCPRC states there are NO restrooms and NO water fountains inside the dog park itself - both are available elsewhere in the park (accessible restrooms and water fountains at the Park Center and Picnic Center). ADMISSION IS CHARGED: $2 per person; free for Gold Pass members and children 2 and under; $1.50 per person educational-group rate Mon-Fri. HOURS: January-April 8 a.m.-sunset; May-August 8 a.m.-8 p.m.; September-October 8 a.m.-sunset; November-December 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; gate closes to incoming traffic 30 minutes before the park closes. MAINTENANCE CLOSURE: the dog park is closed Wednesdays 7-9 a.m. VACCINATION: CCPRC Agency Rules Section 8 - dogs in off-leash areas must be attended by the owner and have current required vaccinations.
