Shem Creek Park

Shrimp Boat Lane, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464

Websitetompsc.comMapDirections

Town of Mount Pleasant park built around a boardwalk over the Shem Creek salt marsh, off Coleman Boulevard. Town facility listing shows the park as ADA accessible with fishing, parking, restrooms and a walking trail; no admission fee is charged and no parking fee is posted on the Town's page. The boardwalk runs out toward the mouth of the creek with views of downtown Charleston, Crab Bank and Fort Sumter, past interpretive information stations and covered pavilions. In 2015 the Town and the Simmons, Toler and Fitch families expanded public access by granting free passage along their waterfront property, adding 1,000 feet of boardwalk and roughly doubling the park's length along the water. Shem Creek Phase III, completed September 2019 with a grand opening on October 2, 2019 at a cost of $2.5 million, added a covered pedestrian bridge over Jones Creek with an ADA-compliant ramp and a pocket park, linking the newer boardwalk to the original park as one continuous path. Common uses: walking, dolphin and shrimp-boat watching, fishing, and kayak launching. Sections of the boardwalk are periodically closed for maintenance or after high-tide damage, so check Town news flashes before a special trip. The Charleston County Parks Shem Creek Boat Landing is a separate public facility on the same creek. Town contact 843-884-8517.

Jim farms seven Mount Pleasant neighborhoods specifically — not “the Charleston area.” That is the whole point of this index: one agent who knows which street floods, which floor plan appraises, and what the last eleven sales actually closed at, because he keeps the record himself.
