Pitt Street Bridge (Otis M. Pickett Bridge Recreation Area)

Town of Mount Pleasant passive park in the Old Village, on the remains of the old causeway and bridge that once carried traffic to Sullivan's Island. The roadbed now dead-ends over Cove Inlet as a walking and fishing pier with open marsh views toward Sullivan's Island and Fort Sumter. No admission fee and no parking fee. Free but very limited roadside parking along Pitt Street. Uses: walking, running, fishing, crabbing, kayak and paddleboard launching from the sand at low tide, sunset viewing. No restrooms, no concessions, no lifeguards — this is not a swimming beach. The Town completed a $1.2 million Pitt Street Bridge Micromobility project in June 2025 (ribbon cutting July 1, 2025) that added pavement markings, signage and improved, delineated parking areas along Pitt Street from Schweers Lane to the park entrance, separating vehicles from walkers and cyclists.
