Charleston County Parks pier at the foot of Center Street. STATUS: rebuilt and open. The original pier closed for replacement, construction began October 2020, and the replacement pier reopened to the public in late December 2022; it is fully operational now, with current 2026 hours and fee schedules posted by CCPRC. The new structure uses pre-stressed concrete piles, concrete substructure and beams, and timber deck panels, and ends in a diamond-shaped platform. Pier hours: Jan-Feb 8 a.m.-sunset; Mar 7 a.m.-sunset; Apr-Oct 6 a.m.-10 p.m.; Nov 7 a.m.-sunset; Dec 8 a.m.-sunset. Fishing is not allowed after sunset. Gift and tackle shop closes 30 minutes before the pier closes. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Daily fishing fees: adults $7; children 12 and under, seniors 60+, active military, and groups of 10 or more $4 each. Rod rental $15 for a full day plus $25 deposit. Frozen bait sold; annual pier fishing pass memberships available. Walking the pier itself is free; parking is charged. Parking at the pier lot uses the same seasonal scale as Folly Beach County Park: Jan-Feb $5, Mar $10, Apr $15, May-Labor Day $15 Mon-Fri / $25 Sat-Sun & holidays, Sept after Labor Day $15, Oct $10, Nov-Dec $5. No RVs or buses. Walk-ins and bicyclists free. Pets are never allowed on the pier. Restaurant on the pier is Koko's on the Pier. ADA-compliant parking and accessible pier ramp. Roughly 23 miles / 35-45 minutes from Mount Pleasant (approximate).
