Dewees Island

Dewees Island, Charleston County, SC — between Isle of Palms and Capers Island; no road access

MapDirections

Recorded as unconfirmed — confirm with the operator before you rely on it.

Privately owned residential barrier island directly north of Isle of Palms, between IOP and Capers Island. There is no bridge and no public beach access. It is reached only by a private ferry operated for the island's property owners, departing from the Isle of Palms Marina, and by private boat; the ferry is not a public service and boarding is limited to residents, their guests, invited real estate prospects and authorized workers. Private automobiles are not used on the island — residents move around by electric cart on sand roads. Because there is no public landing and the uplands are private property, Dewees is not a place a visitor can simply go; the practical public alternatives in this stretch of coast are Capers Island Heritage Preserve to the north (state land, open for day use) and Isle of Palms to the south. CAVEAT: the island's own property-owner and ferry websites were unreachable during this research, so the ferry schedule and any guest-access procedure could not be verified against a first-party source. Confirm current access rules directly with the Dewees Island Property Owners Association before planning anything.

Jim farms seven Mount Pleasant neighborhoods specifically — not “the Charleston area.” That is the whole point of this index: one agent who knows which street floods, which floor plan appraises, and what the last eleven sales actually closed at, because he keeps the record himself.
