Indoor performing arts center on the peninsula. The Martha and John M. Rivers Performance Hall seats 1,818 at full capacity (some listings round to 1,800); the building also holds a grand ballroom and lobby spaces used for receptions and rentals. Programming the center presents itself: classical (resident Charleston Symphony Orchestra Masterworks series), jazz (Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves, and the Lowcountry Jazz Festival each Labor Day weekend), touring Broadway (The Music Man, Hadestown), contemporary dance (Akram Khan Company), comedy, holiday cabaret, and family and education concerts. It is also a principal Spoleto Festival USA venue. Calendar currently runs through May 2027. Age policy is per event; most concerts are all-ages seated. Parking is the Gaillard's own underground garage plus nearby city garages and metered street parking - the venue maintains a separate Parking and Accessibility page. Roughly 5 miles from Mount Pleasant over the Ravenel Bridge, and it is the first major hall you reach coming off the bridge onto Calhoun Street.
