Town-owned hall and roughly 2.4 acres of grounds on Charleston Harbor in the Old Village. Reopened August 27, 2025 after a $4.8 million renovation; the playground itself reopened ahead of schedule in June 2025. The playground, across Middle Street from the hall, was rebuilt with inclusive equipment: sensory-friendly play elements, wide ramps onto the structures, interactive panels, and swings designed to seat a child and caregiver facing each other at eye level. It is certified as a National Demonstration Site for Inclusivity and Physical Activity. Equipment includes slides, climbers, monkey bars and multiple swing types, with new hardscapes and pathways. FENCED: new perimeter fencing runs all the way around the playground — it is fully enclosed. SHADE: mature live oaks cover most of the playground and the Grand Lawn, giving deep natural shade; picnic tables sit under the trees. RESTROOMS: restrooms on site, plus a water fountain. PARKING: free on-site parking, expanded during the renovation. Harbor frontage with views across to downtown Charleston; leashed dogs permitted on the grassy lawn. The hall is a rentable event venue and books one event per day, so the building may be in private use while the grounds and playground remain open.
