THERE IS NO PUBLIC BEACH PARKING LOT ON SULLIVAN'S ISLAND. All beach parking is free on-street in the public right-of-way — no meters, no kiosks, no pay-by-phone, and no beach parking permit. The Town's rule, verbatim: park in designated right-of-way areas, have ALL FOUR TIRES OFF THE PAVEMENT, and do not block the street or beach paths. Obey posted 'No Parking' signs, which govern which side of a given street is legal — the restriction is sign-by-sign, not a blanket one-side rule. Middle Street has parallel parking on one side only. Public parking also exists in front of Battery Thomson and behind Town Hall (2056 Middle Street) during non-business hours. No motorized vehicle, including a golf cart, may park in or block a beach access path. Enforced by the Sullivan's Island Police Department; non-compliance can bring a citation or fine. Overnight sleeping or camping on any public property, beach, dune, park, street, right-of-way or parking area between sunset and sunrise is prohibited. Reported total of roughly 2,800 free right-of-way/Town-property spaces comes from press coverage, not a Town page.
