SCDMV, dmv.sc.gov, customer contact centre 803-896-5000. The address above is the Mount Pleasant SCDMV branch. THE DEADLINE, quoted from SCDMV's own Moving to SC page: "you must apply for an SC license or ID within 45 days of moving to the state." BRING: proof of identity, US citizenship and date of birth; your Social Security number; "Proof of current, physical S.C. address dated within nine months of its issue (two proofs for a REAL ID)"; and proof of legal name change if applicable. SCDMV publishes two document checklists — the United States Citizens' Checklist (Form MV-93) and the International Customers' Checklist (Form MV-94) — pull the right one before going. FEE: an eight-year driver's licence is $25, the published figure as of 3 Sep 2026. TESTS: a vision test is required. "If your out-of-state license is expired by nine months or more, you must also pass the knowledge and road tests." SURRENDER: "you must turn in your out-of-state license and/or ID when you get an SC license or ID" — if you no longer have the card, bring a driving record from that state instead. A new deed or closing statement plus a utility bill in your name at the new address are the usual address proofs; the two-proof rule for REAL ID is the one that sends people home, so bring more than you think you need.

Jim Deutsch

Jim farms seven Mount Pleasant neighborhoods specifically — not “the Charleston area.” That is the whole point of this index: one agent who knows which street floods, which floor plan appraises, and what the last eleven sales actually closed at, because he keeps the record himself.
