THIS IS THE NUMBER FOR A DRAINAGE OR FLOODING PROBLEM: the town's own Stormwater FAQ says "Please report all clogged drainage pipes to the Stormwater office for investigating" and gives the Stormwater Office at (843) 856-2157. The same FAQ directs general drainage concerns, ditches and sinkholes to the same number for investigation and routing to the appropriate agency. A "Blocked Storm Drain" online form is also published at tompsc.com/forms.aspx?FID=117. The Stormwater program page itself (tompsc.com/1390/Stormwater) publishes no phone number — the (843) 856-2157 number appears only in the FAQ. Sandbags: the town states it provides "only a limited amount of sandbags on a first come first serve basis - only if a hurricane is forecasted for our area," placed at Town locations about 48 hours before landfall, with no delivery to individual homes. Flood Protection: the town states Mount Pleasant "is currently rated as a Class 6 community" under the NFIP Community Rating System, "and therefore, residents receive a 20% premium reduction," and references the Town Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance with revisions effective January 29, 2021. Note: the contact link on the town's Flood Protection page is a broken mailto (mailto:buildinginspectionsdivision.com) — use (843) 884-5184 for Building Inspections/floodplain questions.
