The division sits inside Finance and Corporate Services. The town publishes: "Every person or entity engaged or intending to engage in business is required to obtain a license based on business activity and gross receipts," and "Business license fees are due prior to commencing operations, and annually on April 30th." Licenses are classified by NAICS code and rated on gross income. Governing ordinances named by the town: the Business License Ordinance (ORD-25052), the Hospitality Tax Ordinance and the Accommodations Tax Ordinance; license-required language is at § 110.01 of the Code of Ordinances. Hospitality tax as published by the town: "Hospitality taxes on prepared meals, food, and beverages in the amount of 2% are due on the 20th of each month to Charleston County, our collection agent."
