Town of Mount Pleasant, SS4A funded. Budget $290,000. Design underway, anticipated complete December 2026 (checked Sept 4, 2026). Scope: high-visibility crosswalks and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) or other warning signage. Locations were ranked using public feedback, proximity to schools/libraries/healthcare, pedestrian and bicycle activity, traffic volumes, existing traffic control and crash history; final locations to be set through NEPA review and further public input. Existing RRFB example cited: Whipple Road near Lucy Beckham High School.
