Published byTown of Mount Pleasant

Town of Mount Pleasant, Engineering & Development Services. A planned network of connected multi-use paths for non-motorized users. Phase 1 was the Master Plan, which the Town's page states is COMPLETE; master plan cost $257,506. The plan proposes roughly 47 miles of shared-use paths, minimum 8 feet wide with a preferred width of 10 feet. Phase 2 is implementation, segment by segment, ranked by a prioritization matrix (constructability, funding availability, connectivity). Twenty-plus named segments have their own project pages. Funding is assembled piecemeal: Charleston County Greenbelt recreational easements, County Transportation Committee "C" funds, Transportation Sales Tax allocations, CHATS Transportation Alternatives, a US DOT SS4A grant, a SC Recreational Trails Program grant, and a National Heritage Corridor grant. The proposed 2026 Transportation Sales Tax program includes a $20,000,000 line item to continue Mount Pleasant Way implementation, contingent on the November 3, 2026 referendum. Contact: James Aton, PE, Deputy Director, 843-856-3080. Checked Sept 4, 2026. WHAT IS ACTUALLY OPEN TODAY: only a handful of built segments — Sweetgrass Basket Parkway Trail, Hamlin Trail, the Patriots Point Road shared-use path, and earlier completed paths (Park West multi-use path, Ben Sawyer multi-use path, Anna Knapp sidewalks). Most named segments are in design, on hold, or list construction as TBD.

Jim farms seven Mount Pleasant neighborhoods specifically — not “the Charleston area.” That is the whole point of this index: one agent who knows which street floods, which floor plan appraises, and what the last eleven sales actually closed at, because he keeps the record himself.
