CARTA bus service to Mount Pleasant

Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority. Routes serving Mount Pleasant as listed on CARTA's Maps & Schedules page (checked Sept 4, 2026): Route 40 Mt. Pleasant, Route 41 Coleman Blvd, Route 42 Wando Circulator, and Express route XP2 Mt. Pleasant - West Ashley. FARES, cash only, exact change, drivers cannot make change: fixed route one-way $2.00; EXPRESS one-way $3.50; transfers free within two hours of the original trip; seniors 55+ $1.00 at all hours with proof of age; children under 6 free on regular routes and flex service when accompanied by a paying passenger. Multi-trip passes carry a $1.00 up-charge onboard Express. Passes can be bought in person in Mount Pleasant at the Mt. Pleasant Visitor Center, 99 Harry M. Hallman Blvd, open daily 9am-5pm. CARTA is funded in part by the Charleston County half-cent transportation sales tax; the proposed 2026 program allocates $858 million (20.19%) to public transit. Phone (843) 724-7420.
