Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge (US 17 over the Cooper River) and Wonders' Way
Published bySouth Carolina Department of Transportation
Owned and maintained by SCDOT. Eight travel lanes plus a shared bicycle/pedestrian path, Wonders' Way, on the south side. No widening, replacement or capacity project is programmed. SCDOT conducts routine inspections: per SCDOT's May 22, 2025 press release, inspections ran June 2-13 and July 8-18, 2025, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., with crews visible on the towers and cables and only minor traffic impact. SCDOT has previously performed minor joint repair work and installed protective fencing near the Wonders Way on-ramp after a vehicle was driven onto the pedestrian lane. CAUTION FOR SEARCHERS: SCDOT's project portal entry titled "ravenel-sidewalk-extension" is NOT about this bridge — it is a 3,600-foot sidewalk on SC 165 in the Town of Ravenel, in western Charleston County (ROW summer 2026, construction summer 2027). Checked Sept 4, 2026. For current lane closures and any storm-related bridge decisions, SCDOT and the SC Emergency Management Division are the publishing authorities.
