Emergency access routes into Charleston during an I-26 reversal

Annex E (May 2026) publishes the inbound routes reserved for emergency vehicles while I-26 is reversed: "To accommodate emergency vehicles to the Charleston area during I-26 lane reversal, the following routes are recommended for emergency vehicle ingress: (1) US 21 to US 176 to US 52 to Charleston (2) US 21 to Orangeburg take bypass US 178 to US 78." This matters to East Cooper because during a four-lane I-26 reversal there is no normal eastbound I-26 lane available for inbound traffic between Columbia and the Nexton Crossover. Annex E also assigns SCDOT closed-circuit traffic cameras along I-26 and I-526, including I-526 at MM 26 (Wando Bridge), MM 28 (Long Point Rd) and MM 30 (US 17), and I-26 E at MM 220 (Ravenel Bridge entrance).
