The oldest library in Mount Pleasant: opened June 19, 1931 in a single room next to the post office under the original name Mt. Pleasant Library; the Whilden Street building opened Aug. 2, 1948, funded by public contributions raised by the Mt. Pleasant Exchange Club plus the Charleston County Legislative Delegation and the Town of Mount Pleasant. Located in the Old Village. Published children's programming: Baby Storytime Fridays 11:00am-12:00pm; Toddler Storytime Mondays 10:00-11:00am; Middle School Club (Thursdays 3:45-4:30pm); periodic kids events including Stuffed Animal Sleepover and craft sessions. Features: public computers and WiFi, color and B/W copying, mobile printing, makers space.
