The other East Cooper CCPL branch, roughly 15 minutes from central Mount Pleasant. Since March 1977 the library has been housed inside renovated Battery Gadsden, a former Spanish-American War four-gun battery; it opened in the renovated quarters March 11, 1977. Named for Edgar Allan Poe, who was stationed on Sullivan's Island as an Army private in 1827-1828. Reopened March 25, 2025 after renovations (new furniture, paint, refreshed restrooms, upgraded IT). Small branch; wireless printing available.
