In Mount Pleasant, about 8 miles from downtown Charleston. Hours Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm. Admission: regular adult $30; seniors, military and AAA $27; children ages 6-12 $12; children 5 and under free with an adult. Parking is free. Admission includes entrance along the Avenue of Oaks, the renovated Gin House visitor center and museum, covered wagon tours of the grounds, live Gullah culture presentations, a guided tour of the first floor of the plantation home, the Black History exhibit housed in the original brick slave cabins, the outdoor gardens, stable tours, marsh views and self-paced exploration of the property. Largely outdoor, so it is a fair-weather rather than rainy-day option, though the Gin House museum and cabin exhibits are indoors.
