THIS IS BOTH OF THE LEADS — the "new semi-pro football team" and the "Seawolves" are the same organization. Sport: outdoor American football (11-man, full-size field). League: ApexPro Football League (APFL), a startup league with corporate offices in Mount Pleasant, SC. League founders: Chad Hitchcock (co-founder / chief creative officer), Oswald Anderson, and Frank Marin (president). Team general manager: Olivia Finckel. No team owner has been announced — the league says it is still seeking investors to buy into the league and its teams. Founded/announced: publicly launched in 2026; four inaugural teams — South Carolina Seawolves, Virginia Battle, Louisiana Venom (Baton Rouge), New York Demolition (Long Island). Stated first season: spring 2027, deliberately scheduled opposite the NFL; one report gives a March 2027 kickoff. Format: six regular-season games (three home, three away) plus playoffs, a mix of weekday and weekend dates. Home venue: The Citadel's Johnson Hagood Stadium, capacity 11,427, opened 1948. Team colors black, white, turquoise, yellow; mascot Captain Riptide; cheer squad called the Sirens. Verifiable activity to date: a ticketed logo-and-jersey reveal event at Charleston Union Station on Feb 27, 2026 (sold through Eventbrite, now concluded); open player tryouts held June 6, 2026 at Northwood Academy in Summerville and June 13, 2026 in Columbia, with a $75 tryout fee; a second tryout date of July 18, 2026; cheerleader tryouts set for October 2026; a merchandise store; and an announced helmet supplier (LIGHT Helmets). WHAT HAS NOT HAPPENED: the team has never played a game, the league has never played a game, no regular-season schedule has been published, no game tickets or season tickets are on sale anywhere, no broadcast or streaming partner has been announced, and no signed venue agreement with The Citadel has been reported or confirmed by the school.
