Open-air town-owned pavilion at the base of the Ravenel Bridge devoted to sweetgrass basket making, with interpretive kiosks, basket display cases and a documentary screening area. Basket makers demonstrate and sell work on site. Listed as a stop on the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor. CURRENT STATUS: the pavilion is temporarily closed for renovations; a temporary sweetgrass exhibit is set up in the adjacent Mount Pleasant Visitor Center, open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, (800) 774-0006. Park hours 6 a.m.-11 p.m. Park amenities include the 1,250-foot Mount Pleasant Pier (fishing pass approximately $5 adult / $3 senior; no fishing license required), River Watch Cafe, nautical-themed playground, splash pad expanded 2025, pickleball and basketball courts, dog parks and the war memorial. The annual Sweetgrass Festival is held here, free and open to the public, run by the Town since 2004; the 2026 edition was Saturday, July 25, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with basket weaving demonstrations, live performances, craft vendors and baskets sold directly by artisans. On festival days park parking is limited, so the Town runs free shuttles from 9:30 a.m. from Town Hall (100 Ann Edwards Lane) and the Cheryll Woods-Flowers Soccer Complex (85 Patriots Point Road), with wheelchair-accessible buses; CARTA Route 41 also serves the park.
